Design and function
Heat exchangers function by transferring heat from higher to lower temperatures through the wall. Plates in a case are welded with one another pair-wise in ports, and then perimeter-wise. Consequently, one of the fluids circulates in-between plates, and the other fluid flows inside the shell transferring heat through the corrugated plate surface.
Flows in heat transfer agents can be counter or cross. Inlets for the medium to reach the plates area are usually located on the front cap of a heat exchanger. Inlets for the medium to reach the case area, as a rule, are located on a shell.
As of today, HESS produces the widest model range of Plate&Shell heat exchangers including the ones with a wide channel for viscous and dirty media.
