Our company unique solution - RE-ENGINEERING of competitors' equipment

What did it all start with? In 2018 we received a request from one of the leading companies in the oil-and-gas industry if we could repair or produce a target size plates pack for a welded BLOCK-type heat exchanger of a competitor. The cost for SPTA kit of that competitor was almost the same as the cost for a new heat exchanger. Using the heat exchanger of another manufacturer was connected with additional financial and time expenses for package piping, coupling dimensions modifications, design liaison.

Our engineers visited the facility, measured that heat exchanger, did the thermohydraulic recalculation for the HESS heat exchanging surface of the same size. After that, we made a commercial offer and signed the contract for re-engineering. You can see the picture of that heat exchanger, and its dissassembling. Pay attention, it's been repaired multiple times - there are a few channels welded, and it had lost a major part of its initial productive capacity.

We took measurements of a plate pack taken out, manufactured the matrix of a suitable size with the HESS corrugated pattern, stamped and welded a pack of plates, installed it into an initial body, and took necessary tests. We shipped a finished heat exchanger with a HESS plates pack.

Our customer is satisfied - they reduced their expenses, got rid of foreign SPTA and dependence from their supplier having reduced delivery terms. We participate in their Import Substitution Programme and repairs.

By now, HESS has already gained sound experience in re-engineering of heat exchangers of different manufacturers of any standard sizes. Some of them have been in service since 2019 after our re-engineering.

It should be pointed that HESS re-engineering does not infringe a patent, and is not contrary to technical regulations and laws of the Russian Federation.

Now the core of the BLOCK-type heat exchanger replacement is identical to replacing the tube packs in shell&tube heat exchangers which gives our customer the choice and eliminates all sanctional risks because the whole process of manufacture takes place in Russia, and, if required, with home materials. Besides, it is a great opportunity to replace the material type of plates for the one that's more corrosion-resistant if the innitial material occured not to be resistant to corrosion.

Below there is a cost scheme of a BLOCK-type heat exchanger. It is clear that a load frame and services are the most expensive. This is why re-engineering is so profitable.

When replacing, the competitor always offers a foreign Short-Block (a pack of plates, 2 caps and columns; but panels and fittings of the initial vessel are used) at a near new vessel price taking advantage of Customer's hopeless condition because re-designing for another supplier takes a lot of time and is always more expensive. The competitor cannot offer re-engineering because all the cores are delivered from abroad, and it is problematic to deliver a pack without caps and columns because they don't have proper regidity for safe delivery and tailing. This is why the competitor always offers Short-Block only. At the same time, the real cost for Short-Block is 60-70% of the price for a new heat exchanger. Choosing the HESS RE-ENGINEERING solution, you save up to 50% off the price because we use initial load frames, and actually produce a new plates pack only.

If the Customer doesn't have a chance to give the vessel away for service for 2-3 months, we have no problems in producing the Short-Block similar to Competitor having taken measurements of the vessel being in service and using our HESS heat-transmitting plates.

We give our Customer a choice and an opportunity to stop being dependent from foreign SPTA taking off all the sanctional risks. This is why HESS is a sovereign russian manufacturer.
